All the above information is good. :-)

I have posted a copy of the PS2FAQ30.ZIP file to ftp.demon.co.uk but
the ftp problems mean that it is currently held up. When it is
available, probably in pub/doc/ibmpc but this has yet to be confirmed,
then I suggest that you download it as it is the latest 1/11/95 version.

2. Your error is defined as: 10483 - PS/2 ESDI Fixed disk controller
failure, which looks like bad news.

You will probably find a lot more information on specific errors
and ways around them, or sources of replacement hardware, on
comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware. I suggest that you suscribe to this
newsgroup as the readers are very knowledgeable and also very
helpful... just like on the Demon newsgroups..

3. Download, in binary mode, two files from ftp.pc.ibm.com:
/pub/os2_ews/loaddf.zip Diskette image prg LOADDSKF & SAVEDSKF
   /pub/refdisks/rf5565a.dsk PS/2 Model 55/65 Ref Disk ver 1.05

Unzip loaddf.zip and read the instructions which tell you how to
create a Reference Diskette using loaddskf.exe and rf5565a.dsk.

Boot from this reference diskette and reply 'y' when it asks if
you want to automatically reconfigure the system.
