One and the same.

Well, maybe they had a bad batch, but mine had all sorts of problems, and I
wasn't alone. Thinking back, it was extremely difficult to configure,
required endless fiddling with either QEMM or HIMEM and even in its most
stable configuration it would only work reliably for about 10 minutes at a
time. Even without memory management I frequently found that the mouse or
keyboard would stop responding after a few minutes in DOS 6.22 or Windows
3.11.
The final straw came when it refused to acknowledge that there was a keyboard
present at all. I had quite a difficult time getting a refund as well.
Meanwhile I purchased the SuperMicro board because I'd been impressed with it
in a system I'd specced for someone else and I have not had a single problem
since. I haven't changed anything else in the PC at all and it runs DOS,
Windows 3.11, OS/2 and NT3.5, although I'm quite happy using Windows 95 on it
at present.
At the time there was another guy who had suffered similarly to me at the
hands of the Ten Technologies m/b and went the same route - he was chuffed
too. My only gripe is that I hate the AMI WINBIOS, but you get used to it
after a while.
The other user, who also posted to demon.tech.pc about problems with the
Award BIOS apparently had a fax from the CEO or some other high-ranking
official of Award admitting that the BIOS had "rather a lot of bugs".
Apparently he would have faxed the bug list as well but it was too long. If
anyone is interested I probably have some of the e-mails and news items
archived somewhere.
Having read some of the other news items around August time trashing the
Award BIOS I am inclined to steer clear of it.
My 2p worth.
