You're not alone in this. We recently attempted to purchase some
CD-ROM drives from them. We sent cheque with order. The cheque passed
through our company bank account after about 2 weeks.

This happened several weeks ago. We have received no goods.
They recently seem to have moved premises. We are never able to get
through to either the sales or enquiries line. Our repeated faxes
have been ignored.

There may be no other solution than to take legal action against them.

->Time to contact the credit card company. I do not know
->anyone who has done this, so does anyone have any pointers ?

I've had to do this before, with the Jupiter Computer Services fiasco
a couple of years ago. I recommend you first speak to the local trading
standards officer...your local council will either be able to put
you through or give you the number you should call. Some credit card
companies are better than others at returning your money, though.
I assume the amount in question was > 100 pounds?

This case is slightly different from the Jupiter saga, though, because
in that case the company had ceased trading (the proprietors had run off
to warmer climes with the money), but in this case phone Micro Computer
Mart gained us a confirmation that the company is still trading.
They also reported that they had had other complaints about Eclipse.

->I didn't expect any technical support when ordering these parts
->( Note. they have an enquires line !], but I did expect some service
->when it came to replacing faulty parts !

What happened with Jupiter was that they were selling parts they knew
faulty, waiting for them to be returned and selling them on to other
customers, whilst sending the original customer neither a replacement
part nor a refund.

Are Eclipse going to go the same way?

I have given up dealing with them. If I want components cheap, I go back
to VIP in Manchester, who I've dealt with many times without complaint.
Another company I've been looking at dealing with is ASL (Agency Sales
Limited) who put a 5-page ad of all things in MCM. Has anyone traded
with this company? They seem to have good prices, but, as the above
experiences relate, low prices aren't everything!

Regards

Francis
