o Doesn't do a lot for performance.
Main benefit (W4WG): increases available resources, which Win95 does as
well ... + other features both offical & unoffical.
There were many threads re it in ?uk.comp.os.win95? and elsewhere.
Many found it did little &/or was unstable wrt 95s registry corruption.
o It works much better for the Mac (with some caveats re extensions etc)
but that has such awful VM management it's not hard to improve on it.
o A pity, as the theoretical basis is good: if it can prevent the (very)
slow h/d swap-filing then performance gains could be considerable.
Currently, it appears the coding isn't too hot. It's where *really good*
optimisation is needed. Perhaps a new version will work on this. I think
Hurricane provides more options but they are complex-to-ambiguity.
o Even when "perfect" it can't be as good as real RAM. There is also a
"minimum momentum" of RAM in many areas. RAM requirements depend
solely on App + _your_data-set_ requirements, not a "general guide".
The market's there, people with even 32/64MB could do with double that
*at times*, but not often enough to justify 600-1200ukp expenditure.
