Hard Disk Solutions are :

a) Ask Demon if they have any spare disk drives ... (beware tacnuke.net)

b) Go to auctions and pray a lot

c) Go to another auction and pray *harder* this time round

d) Do a WTB for 1-2GB drive which you will get 2nd hand for
reasonable prices. Aim for a fairly recent drive which
hasn't been subject to SMTP/NNTP transport agents (!)

Get several of the aforementioned 1-2GB drives.

This probably means you don't get 7200rpm units.
A benefit is that any dogs within 3 miles will love you.

Multiple drives has the benefit of multiple redundancy. This is
dissimilar to a 4.3GB drive which just produces redundancy when
you work out you'll have to kill someone to pay for it.

Also if you went NT-S (this is similar to, but not the same as,
going NUT-S) you could RAID stripe them boosting performance.

How understanding is your bank manager (the one curled
up cowering in a corner due to Area/Adolf Manager tactics) ?

Seriously, find an auction or go for several small units. This way you
can add them as required. Decent SCSI drives come with 5yr warranties.

You may want to look at IBM, Quantum & DEC 2nd hand drives, + Seagate
Hawks but maybe avoid Cudas (hot) if you are unsure of their history.

(Especially applies to early large 'Cudas: v.high thermal outputs).
