Can any one recommend a PCI sound card that works with older versions of dos? I don't have any problems with my Iwill SCSI card or PCI NE2000 card. I have got a Sound blaster PCI64V and it won't work in dos mode even from Dos7. Win95 says code 2 error? Int 5 is set to Legacy (ie: not PCI/PNP) and is free, LPT int share on or off has no effect. If Legacy Emulation is on then Int 7 has to be switched between Legacy and PCI/PNP every time it boots else no sound in Win95. I have had it working in dos 7 but not with opendos 7. I had to remove my modem and network card as it seems to want three interrupts - 12, 7 and 5. First time I bought a CT labs product and likely to be the last. I don't need a sound card to compose symphonies or play demanding games on - just wnat to play a few WAV's, CD's and have music in Lemmings. Any chance of USB speakers doing dos sound card emulation? -- Peter Hill Can of worms - what every fisherman wants. Can of worms - what every PC owner has.

Thanks but when I run APCONFIG it says my SNDSCAPE.INI file is invalid or incomplete! There is a yellow shriek ! on the Legacy sound driver in Win95. Without a valid INI file it is totally US! Should the WIN95 drivers be loaded before installing the card or after? Should I let WIN95 see the CD when it finds the PCI64V or make it wait until after the desktop has loaded and then run setup from the CD manually? Here is my SNDSCAPE.INI [sndscape.drv] Port=0 WavePort=0 SBPort=0 IRQ=0 SBIRQ=0 DMA=0 SBEnable=true JSEnable=true SynthFile=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\eapci2m.ecw PCIPort=e800 PCIIRQ=12 There's a brook just the other side of the road... I can't check as my card is not in a machine at the moment, but the original Ensoniq AudioPCI on which this PCI64 card is based was supposed to work in real mode DOS. The Ensoniq paperwork suggests that it needs the DOS driver, apinit.com, which in turn requires Emm386.exe to be loaded. Two other relevant DOS programs are apconfig.exe and apmixer.exe, with the obvious functions. I think these will respond to the /? parameters to give a help file. Ensoniq's documentation implies that the thing should work from raw DOS, but elsewhere implies that the drivers should be loaded from Dosstart.bat when reverting to real DOS, and the 'book' starts by saying that the card requires W3.1 or W95.
