Later versions of sendmail use the Sendmail Restricted Shell (smrsh) for internal shell operations and this doesn't allow redirection, as this little test shows: root-# /usr/sbin/smrsh -c 'cat /etc/sendmail.cf > ~/temp.txt' /usr/sbin/smrsh: cannot use > in command You should be able to solve this by recompiling your sendmail.cf from the M4 source without FEATURE(`smrsh'). When I did the same upgrade I ran into problems because relaying is denied by default. This is clearly a good thing and prompted me to set up proper restrictions but it's something you might like to keep in mind if you have more problems. -- Regards, Richard Senior Mill Dam Consulting Limited
