Phear the implied generation gap. You could of taken that statement two ways. Going one way, my response to you is to focus in on "of its time", not before or after, at that particular point. My response to you using another possible interpretation is: you obviously know what a "baddest boy" is since you mentioned your circa-70's "impressive" modem. Irrelevant or contradictory, take your pick. ;-) > Most of the "Internet was built to withstand a nuclear war" jive is > just that, journalistic jive. I'm not a historian of the ARPANet.... And neither am I. Additionally, I haven't lived through those times. I didn't talk of nuke wars. Don't load unintended meaning on my behalf. The country needed a robust communication network. The nuke thing comes when some people are explaining why it needed to be a redundant system. There are many different ways to think of why/when/where the internet took form or even what it actually is. What about the telegraph? I know enough to know of my own limitations on this topic. Sure dude, whatever you say...Aloha and word and stuff to you too. Also note that I don't capitalize the Net or Internet. That in itself can imply a certain properness to its origin and/or current state of existence. I'll stay out of that one.....
