I read somewhere years ago, that "The Grapevine" got its name because, in the 19th century, people traveling through parts of that area had to hack their way through grapevines. Many people in SoCal call it The Grapevine. Certainly when there's a newsworthy event around The Grapevine, LaLaLand news stations refer to it as The Grapevine. Ciccio
