It might be splitting hairs but I make the distinction between
attractions / spectacles that tourists go to see (like Hearst Castle)
and commercial schtick inserted into highly-trafficed areas hoping to
snare the tourists passing through (like Casa de Fruita).  No doubt
that Hearst Castle will be overflowing with tourists but somehow
that's different to me than places whose only purpose is the "gift
shop".

Having heard more of your plan for the day I wouldn't suggest a stop
at Hearst Castle anymore.  It'll take too long.  Bigger fish to
fry..
