I have never heard of anyone making a whole day trip out of driving I-5 from
LA to SF.  Me, I always take 5 to 6 hours, hitting either LA or SF early
enough for lunch.  The only place I stop is Harris Ranch, which has the
cleanest restrooms along this stretch of I-5.
