I think there is one in Addison on Beltline and maybe another on Greenville. I'm looking for a good place to go for a 5th Anniversary dinner, something good and with some atmosphere. I have heard that Simply Fondou has these qualities. Any comments or recommendations are appreciated. I've been to the Simply Fondue on Lower Greenville a couple of times and have enjoyed it. Both times there were only two people in our party, and both times we ordered the combination dinner as suggested by the waiter. First you get a simple tossed salad, nothing exciting. Then for an appetizer you get a cheese fondue (choice of cheddar or swiss) with bread and crudites for dipping. The main course has a light oil in the fondue pan for deep frying all the entree items. With the combination dinner you get chicken, shrimp, beef, scallops, and mushroom caps with green goddess stuffing. There are two batters: a heavy sesame batter and a lighter tempura-style batter. Then finally for dessert you have a choice between chocolate or white chocolate amaretto dip with marshmallows, angel food cake, bananas, maybe some other fruit. I've heard that the restaurant in Addison has an entree with a broth instead of an oil for cooking, but I've never been there myself. An earlier poster suggested that it was rather expensive. It seems to be true at first, at least for the amount and type of food, but on the other hand you will spend a couple of hours here (and that's if you hurry!) so they can't turn the tables as often as some other restaurants might. One reminder: be sure to keep both skewers of food cooking. That is, after you cook something and remove it get another one started before eating the one you just cooked; otherwise your meal will take forever! It is a fun place to be with someone with whom you want to spend a long time with, so I guess it would be good for an anniversary dinner. I think it's also a good place to take someone you haven't seen in a long time and you have a lot of catching up to do, since much of the time you are just sitting there waiting for your food to cook (can't just bury your head and stuff your face if you run out of conversation topics). For anniversary dinners other places I might recommend would be Routh Street Cafe (haven't been there in a long time, I heard they had been declining but very recently were improving again), Nero's Italian (nice dark decor, large servings of hearty (and garlicky) Italian food, one of my favorite restaurants), Chaplin's (touted as one of the best `New American' restaurants in D's best 100 restaurant issue a couple of years ago), Landmark Cafe (in the Omni Melrose Hotel on Oak Lawn near Cedar Springs, very good food, nice quite atmosphere, good service, and the bar next to the restaurant has a good singer performing nightly).
