Is what Outback "thinks" of their food or what
the *public* thinks that determines long waits?
I've taken issue to the noisiness there as well
in the last steakhouse round-up at dfw.eats.
The thread was called: Top 10 "Chain" Steakhouses
I'm curious if any of these are found in the Bay Area.
-----------------------------------------------------
I use the term "chain" loosely, all I mean is multiple locations.
I would like to hear opinions/rankings.
I've had the primest and/or biggest filet mignon cooked medium at
all of these places and I rank them as follows...what do ya'll think?
1) Bob's Steak&Chop (the best by a discernable margin, IMO)
2) Ruth's Chris (the shallow pool of melted butter gives an extra kick
to an otherwise well prepared, good tasting steak)
3) Kirby's (surprisingly good, peppered varieties are also quite good)
4) Morton's (perfect in it's own way, wouldn't change a thing)
5) Del Frisco's (i personally don't see the 'light' here like others do)
6) Outback (yes, Outback. prime filet is tasty...even without the rub)
8) Smith&Wollenski's (in Vegas before Dallas opened, nothing special)
7) Old San Francisco (though the steak itself is okay, not much else is)
9) The Palm (terribly over-rated by people, what's up with that?)
10) Steak&Ale (a while back the salad bar drew me in for a steak
dinner, not anymore, the salad bar sucks now. If Outback
was quieter and had any atmosphere, S&A would be gone.)
