I am going to spend this coming weekend on South Padre.

I'd like to know if there are any really good places to eat in
the South Padre/Brownsville/Harlingen area.

Thanks.

Clay -

I was just there last weekend, the water temp is great, watch out for tar
though. I would recomend La Jiba, on the Isle, good seafood. The Tiki
for Polynesian cuisine, Blackbeard's for general fare, these two are
also both on the Isle. Inland is a different story, do no know of any
really good restaurants. In Matamoros, across the river from Brownsville,
there is the US Bar & Grill and the Drive Inn, but it has been a few years
since I have eaten at either one.

Hope this helps and thanks goodness Andrew went north, otherwise you
probably would not be going to SPI for awhile.

Later,
Chris

When I was there last time, the Sheraton had an "all you can eat" shrimp
dinner for less than $10. Also, there is a seafood restaurant near the south
end of the island. But I can't remember the name of it. As soon as you go
over the bridge, turn right and drive a few hundred yards, and it's on the
right just before you enter the park.

The first restaurant you come to on the right is the Sea Ranch. The Jetties
is located at the end of Isla Blanca Park just past the Sea Ranch. I have
never eaten there, but I heard the seafood is pretty good.

Has it changed? It was called the Lobster Ranch for many years and it was
always very good in my opinion. I would have to say though one of the best
places is Blackbeards. It can be crowded, but it it always very good as well.

The restaurant might have been called the Lobster Ranch, but the Hotel and
Marina it is in is the Sea Ranch. It is the host facility for the Int`l
Fishing Tourny.

You`re right about Blackbeard's being crowded and they just expanded it again.
It is amazing how that it started out as a small beachhouse and they kept
adding on to it.
