SORRY, BUT I THINK I'll skip the caps here. There is obviously a limit to the rate of CO2 absorption for the oceans, and apparently that rate is a lot less than the rate at which we are dumping the gas into the atmosphere. Also you might want to consider that when CO2 is absorbed by ocean water the acidity of the water increases. Eventually shellfish and corals can't form shells and the entire ocean ecosystem starts to collapse. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4226917.stm Calcium carbonate stops raining down onto the ocean floor where it would otherwise be sequestered, and the rate of ocean absorption is drastically reduced. Just another one of those pesty little equilibrium things that we seem very near to altering irrevocably. I just hope that if an environmental apocalypse does result from all this brainless pollution then the newsgroup archives will be searched for people who tried so hard to convince everyone that there wasn't a problem. Then those people would be booted out of any oases of humanity that might be surviving somehow.
