I have been checking out books from libraries for over sixty years, 
occasionally even on controversial subjects and I have had no indication 
of any such surveillance.  As i understand it, the government has the 
right that has never been used IIRC, to check such records if their is 
sufficient cause.  I also frequent bookstores regularly, so perhaps I 
should be worried <G>

The NSA has been doing such surveillance since its inception in 1952. 
This is hardly a new development.  I had a friend who worked on some of 
the original computer systems involved.  Since it began, they have been 
looking for key phrases, words and the like, to see if more surveillance 
is justified.  Which administration are you going to blame?  DDE was 
President in 1952, IIRC, and there have been a number other presidents 
of both parties since then.

*I* don't have anything to hide and I have never been bothered by such 
surveillance nor do I know anyone who has been victimized.  How have you 
been harmed?  The NSA has been monitoring communications for more years 
than you have been alive.

This is a scary attitude, to me.  I have no problem with the government 
trying to prevent terrorists from succeeding in another 9/11 attack.

Obviously, you feel differently.  That is your right and it is my right 
to oppose political parties and candidates that agree with you.
