The true alternative is to dump the current "strategy" and do something that works. It would have been much easier before Bush "shocked and awed" the Middle East on his way to "mission accomplished," but unfortunately we can't turn back the clock. Nobody ever hears from Condie any more (did we ever?). Obviously, diplomacy isn't valued by Bush.
