Republicans Attempt to Stop Minority Voters at the Polls

Washington, D.C. - Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Terry
McAuliffe issued the following statement:

"The Republicans are again trying to prevent people from voting at the
polls. As thousands of citizens attempt to take advantage of early voting
opportunities around the country, many are being harassed, photographed, and
scared away as they attempt to cast their ballots. The tactics utilized are
reprehensible and an affront to our democracy. Most worrisome is the
possibility of this high level of disenfranchisement being extended to
election day, and corrupting the integrity of the results.

"A clean and fair elections process is not a luxury, but a commitment to our
democracy. The eyewitness accounts of Republican 'ballot security programs'
being waged against minority voters are pouring in from states like Texas
and Arkansas. This dishonors the legacy of all the courageous Americans who
fought and died for the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Every man and woman
deserves the right to have their voice heard and their vote counted. I call
on the Republican Party to rise above partisan politics and cease and desist
with these ill-conceived devious tactics that only serve to denigrate our
electoral process."
