It is bizarre that a party most commonly associated with manipluation of election law and spirit is the one complaining the most. I hate to draw a sniper paralell, but like the talking heads say: "maybe the sniper wanted to get caught" Al Gore did a damn good job convincing people he's the clueless dolt we all suspected him of being, we get Senators running for re-election in Baghdad, Daschle keeps peeing his pants on national TV, Liberal Democrats insist that the country and government are opposed to Bush while they vote for his actions and the polls show consistent support. Bssed on just the last few weeks, I'd say that any Democrat confidently stating that the Democrats will keep their power is a good thing indeed. They're on a roll, they can't get a damn thing right these days. I wonder if their sense of bipartisanship cooperation will extend to handing al Gore to the sacrificial pyre in 2004. It would be good policy. He's not going to go away, and there's no-one in the Democrat party that has the balls to clearly say so. So, in an election year where you face a dicey chance of success, throw in the sacrificial lamb - no need to burden a better candidate with a defeat.. Democrats are stuck with al Gore. For anyone to challenge him, they will have to state the obvious, that he's not all that bright, and he's clearly not the man you want running the free world in this day and age The next couple of years are going to be great fun to watch, the Democrats are getting tackier than FOX (not to insult FOX). I'm curious to see wehther there is a Democrat other than Miller that knows how to bring the party back to an electable center - one that can do it without trashing a lot of basic constituency values. I've never seen so many become so irrlelevant so voluntarily in so short a time, Carter, Clinton, stripped of legacy by reality....still stumping for themselves after all these years, one of them proud of recieving a prize that Yassar Arafat also recieved, the other angry at the slight. > > Good freaking grief. Why do they put anybody on the ballot. Their supporters > are expected to pass them the votes like lemmings while the candidate is > secondary. I suspect political affiliation reflects that old adage: "half the people you meet are of below average intelligence"
