We are talkin' 1.2 million people in California ( $59/day/person = $25,842,000,000/year) that are in jail. About 1/2 of them are there for nickle and dime possession charges. Not whackin' some one around, or grand theft but two bit possession charges where the only demonstrable person being hurt was the person arrested. With treatment the cost of incarceration drops to $51/day because of fewer day the person is locked up. Net savings to the state is $3,504,000,000/year. -- Billy Impeach Pelosi Bush & Cheney to the Hague http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article1248.shtml
