              THE YORK EARTHCARE FESTIVAL
                  Sunday, 2 April 1995

Plans for the running of the 1995 York Earthcare Festival
are well underway and all indications are that this year
will be an even greater success than last year's Festival.
This year's Festival will be held on Sunday, April 2nd in
conjunction with the Heritage Week activities.

The Earthcare Festival began in 1993 as an event for
families, focussing on increasing public awareness of
environmentally friendly products and practices. Funds
raised by the Festival are channelled towards the Threatened
Species Network and public education on conservation.

Activities and displays create a day full of entertainment,
fun and information with an emphasis on protecting the
environment. The Hotham Valley Railway is providing a train
service from Perth for the day.

Landcare, environment, herbal, organic and permaculture
groups, along with companies which produce environmentally
friendly products will be offering displays and information,
making people aware of their surroundings and the products
they purchase.

Local artists and craftspeople have an opportunity to
demonstrate and display their wares in a market style
atmosphere. The market area will be located right behind the
main street directly opposite Avon Park.

The Avon Park will be the setting for dancing displays, live
theatre and a variety of earth-friendly childrens
activities in a creative, fun learning environment. A lively
family concert will be staged during the afternoon in the
rotunda at the centre of the park where picnic and BBQ
facilities are also available.

Another attraction is the "Art for Earth" exhbition at the
Town Hall featuring the artwork of Avon Valley aboriginal
artists and others, portraying environmental themes.

Balladong Farm, the Gateway to the Avon Ascent, was Western
Australia's first inland settlement and provides an historic
rural setting for corporate and environment group displays.
Come and visit the newly opened audio-visual theatrette,
feed the fram animals and see the blacksmith in action.
There will be a courtesy bus service running from the market
area to Balladong Farm all throughout the day.

Earthcare combines the past and the present to
show the way to the future.

                  IF YOU CARE BE THERE

For further information please contact the festival
coordinator, Yvonne Dols on (096) 411 541. Enquiries from
environmental artists and landcare groups are most welcome.
