Anyone have an address for the Securities and Exchange Commission? I get that one too. Wish I knew where they got our addresses. (okay, right here, I suppose) The best solution to ANY unsolicited email is to send a reply with CC (NOT BCC) to postmaster@their.domain.com (if the spam is from joe@aol.com, cc the reply to postmaster@aol.com) Every domain has the postmaster email address. It's part of the install of the mail server. This does two things. It pisses off the busy postmaster, who is probably also the webmaster, and the network administrator and God knows what else. He's going to talk to the originator of the spam, GUARANTEED!! He doesn't want to deal with filtering through his "junk" mail, he wants to be able to get to his important email that pertains to his duties. He's eventually going to lock the email box of the offender, if it gets bad enough. Second, the originator is going to see the cc: postmaster@his.isp.com and might realize that people don't ALWAYS want his crap, and that he is accountable to someone. That seems to be forgotten on the internet, everyone thinks they are invisible behind their computer screens. I have done this for the last 18 months and I've noticed that the amount of junk e-mail has been declining in the last 8-10 months. I always get positive responses from the owners of the service being used. As long as I am polite in my request to not be harrassed with junk mail, the service provider is usually very eager to help. It is helpful to mention that MOST isp's T.O.S. (terms of service) strictly prohibit spamming, and that if they don't, they should consider that policy, as it reflects poorly on the company to have people abusing the internet through their service. If everyone did that to ALL junk mail, it would get rid of it almost entirely. At least, there'd only be the first-timers. They wouldn't and couldn't do it a second time. I guess it's like the junk mail in our mailboxes, or the telephone solicitors. There are enough dimwitted and gullible people out there eating it all up, that justify the practice. They wouldn't keep doing it unless they get some positive response. that's my 2 cents.......... Bob Henry bobhenry@cymedia.com http://www.cymedia.com/dcmusic/
