Man Glenn that was a long one...but not really on target..yes it turned
out to be a nasty technical problem--no of course the fone gestapo was not
forthcoming with information.  I am not still beating up on Digex...I
mean...I know the grass ain't much greener anywhere else or I would be
there.  The brief point I was trying to make which may have been lost or
simply missed was that for the longest time Digex seemed to stonewall the
POSSIBILITY even that there WAS indeed a technical problem.  I was not
talking abuot the last few months and resistors.  I was talking about from
the day the very first v.fc modem went in here!!  Did you have a v.fc
modem then??  Only people calling in at that speed from the first day
would even be aware of this perhaps...  I can take a quit look in my comm
log at home and check the exact date of the my very first v.fc connect
here.  Way back then..it was obvious to me at least that there was a speed
problem...but back then (ie, when only say 10% of people could do higher
than v.32bis) the response was about this and that and POTS lines in 
general...nothing assured over 2400 baud.  But then as theat 10% grew to 
near 100% things became more obvious...
  
Anyway...that was the point..going back to then...almost 2 years..??  I'll 
need to check...adios.
