Sorry for the crossposting, but I've now waisted two days trying to find a solution for my problem. I need to construct a program in Delphi 3 (eventually 4), activated from another program (windows NT in this case). After the program has started, it must show a form, which of course is no problem. It must then automatically start scanning a directory for filenames, and display whatever it finds in an edit box. The contents of the files are to be checked, and if errors are found, the operator can choose to delete the file or not. In other words, the form must be present before I start fiddling with the file names. What I've programmed until now, is put into the initialization part, i.e. every "action" is in fact completed before the form is displayed. Anyone have an idea on to accomplish this? Regards Nico (www.farumdata.dk)

Hello Nico, the problem is, that windows especially windows nt performs all actions, before it performs the WM_Paint message. Put your functions into the OnActivate-Method of your scan-form. To ensure that the form is visible you first statement in Onactivate should be SELF.UPDATE. I think this would solve your problem. HTH -- H.-W.
