Hallo OM's,

10 August 1989

Mr J F C Johnson RFS Head Office
NZART Liaison Officier Bowen State Building
15 Field Street Bowen Street
UPPER HUTT WELLINGTON (New Zealand)

Dear Sir, REG 3/1 DJJ SNT

OPERATION BY VISITING LICENSED AMATEURS

As you know, I announced at your recent Annual Conference that
we would issue a policy statement concerning short-term amateur
visitors to New Zealand.

I am pleased to advise that the policy as agreed is being
circulated to RFS Field Offices and is effective forthwith.

The policy conditions are:

(1) Licensed visitors may use VHF/UHF handhelds on frequencies
     144 MHz and above.

(2) Operation is for a period not more than 4 weeks.

(3) No application need be made and no fee is charged.

(4) The visiting amateur must be the holder of a current
licence issued by their own administration.

(5) A copy of the current licence must be carried while
operating and be available for inspection.

(6) Usage of the apparatus must conform with the requirements
of the NZ Radio Regulations 1987 and the general terms and
conditions shown on the amatuer licence schedule.

(7) The visiting amateur must use the home callsign suffixed
     by ZL 1, 2, 3, 4 as appropriate.

I would be grateful if you would promulgate this information in
such a way that intending amateur visitors to New Zealand may
avail themselves of the facility.

Yours faithfully

(D J Jenner)
