Subject: WNOS
Hi All,
Ramon, PA3EUG sent a message to the group last week, announcind DB3FL's NOS
version, called WNOS.
I received this morning a disk from him, and I uploaded wnos1m.exe to
thumper, in the /incoming directory; it is also available at hb9zz.ethz.ch.
Should you need further explanations, I defined an alias at hb9zz, so that
Ramon is not reachable as pa3eug@hb9zz.ethz.ch. Lots of wnos users are
reachable under 625_user%dl8yq@hb9zz.ethz.ch, and most of them also read the tcp-group and can reply through hb9zz.

Subject: DOS 5.0
Although I haven't actually run MS-DOS 5.0, in talking with
a Beta-tester, I was told that there is a switch/command available
that will change the version reported by the INT 21 "Get OS Version"
call to whatever you like. Although a work-around, this would at least
get rid of the "annoying but ignorable" error message.

Subject: DOS 5.0 vs. NOS
I tracked down the DOS 5.0 message in G1EMM (and variants) It is in
main.c in function 'dofstat' - I believe this code was written and/or
imported by Kelvin. Anyhow there is a test of a location for a returned
value to determine the version of DOS. It only knows up to version 4.x
Knowing what value is returned by DOS 5.0, a couple of lines of code
could be added to satisfy DOS 5.0.
If anyone knows what the return value is maybe they could pass it on
to Gerard? The other way is to compile it with a test at this point to
print out the returned code under DOS 5.0.

Subject: WNOS 1m manual
To those who already have dowloaded WNOS1m from the thumper:
As you might have seen, due to the set-up differences compared to
original NOS, WNOS asks for a setup file named AUTOEXEC.NOS --not .NET !!
I will send a mail containing the WNOS manual to the tcpip-area at HB9ZZ,
for those who cannot get it for the one reason or the other, please mail
me (pa3eug%pa3eug@hb9zz.ethz.ch), and I'll try to send it directly...
This manual is in GERMAN, in the next days I'll write an English trans-
lation, but I expect to have no time to do this until next weekend...
But this German manual will be understandable for most of you, Michael
DB3FL has noticed a clear syntax of every command anyway....
Lots of luck, and in case, mail me to solve your problems (and if I don't
know the answer, I'll pass them to db3fl, he surely does.....)
Best 73's, Ramon PA3EUG
