Subject: questions about ka9q

Does anyone have a version of ka9q that supports telnet using
a semi-intellegent terminal (vt100 would be fine)?

When ka9q sends rip info, it sends routes out with a metric of zero.
Anyway to change the metric?

Thanks,

-b

Mike,

The problem I was experiencing with disk thrashing was caused by running
the defective temp code on my already 90%+ full hard disk. It caused massive
fragmentation. Once I ran compress all was well.

Gerard has a problem in the 1.7e implementation of mkname.c - he is
trying to make it work for all Borland C compilers and in doing that it
seems to have broken for BC+2.0 - I just used the old (your) mkname.c in
place of his and all was well.

Have a good time at the beach!

Doug

Subject: hardware question

I am interested in setting up a point-to-point data link on the ham bands.
The best I have heard available are 56 kb/s modems for such use.

Anyone know if there is something that will do 1 Mb/s and what it would
cost? Anything for 908 MHz you could attach to a dish at each end with
line of site over 40 kM distance?

It would not necessarily need to use TCP....

Subject: Xenix Gear ?

Hi Folks,

I had a question from a local user as to whether any NOS flavours
have been ported to Xenix ? Can anyone help ?

So far I know of Anders' work on Sun Unix, and Rob (PE1CHL) NET
for Xenix but no known NOS on Xenix.

Thanks & 73,

Mike

What ?!? I run PPP code every day! PPP is compiled into the "official"
NOS, found in the ka9q/nos directory. If you are having problems with
someone else's modification of nos, please make this clear in the message.

The problem was i tried to catch 2 flies in one stroke, but only hit the
stuff they like to walk on. (shi..) The _MKNAME is NOWERE used in both compilers
but __MKNAME is. I chose (on wrong info ) to give _MKNAME priority and have
__MKNAME call _MKNAME. That does not work... Delete the _MKNAME references
and move to __MKNAME does work. On my development AT all ran well (ibm board
with phoenixs bios) On net.pa0gri it plain stopped (AT with same bios)
both have 2.5mb + dos5.0 3c501 etc. only net.pa0gri (net.cdh.cdc.com)
(not reachable yet) has a pa0hzp scc board.

While i am also on the beach , i am working on the dock's to let them
reflect what is in NOS and how it all sings togheter in close harmony.
Temparature is dropping below 95F in my chack so i might get productive.
I notised one wierd thing : rspf or rip is overwriting my fixed routes
with worse routes gotten from my other station. (both 1.7e+)
Regards, Gerard.

NOS_0618 on ucsd.edu in /hamradio/ka9q incoming or pa0gri has full ansi
keyboard support (Full ???) togheter with nansy.sys you will be able to
run full screen applics with it. If you dont like the keyboard mapping
redefine the keys.

My system also locked shortly after booting up with version 1.7e.

One other problem I see with NOS versions is a lockup where ip
is still running but the local console is hung. This I run
Desqview in this mode I can see the machine is ok.
This happens with phil's code too.

Any ideas?

Subject: Dead Interfaces!!!

I am starting to see a strange phnomena with the various NOS routers I
have running. After some (varying) period of time, they just go deaf.
This has occured on Ethernet <-> SLIP and Ethernet <-> Ethernet combinations.
I am running 910423. Would this problem be solved if I use Gerard's version
with the watchdog??
Anybody have any other ideas about what I can do to prevent this??

I recompiled the 1.7e not using pklite on the exec code
and it works...
