From: Tony Mountifield <mwuk!tony@relay.EU.net> Date: Sun, 30 Jun 1991 21:12:04 BST Subject: REQ for Info source Hi Folks, I have only recently started subscribing to this group. I was active on AX.25 Packet in the UK from almost the beginning (one of the first AEA PK-80s) until about 2-3 years ago, when circumstances dictated a period of QRT. I will soon have the opportunity to get started again, and things seem to have changed a lot! Last I knew, W0RLI and MBL mailboxes had been forwarding mail in an organised way for about a year or so, and KA9Q TCP/IP was only just being experimented with by a few. At that time I didn't know what TCP/IP was, but since then I have become familiar with them in a Unix/OS-9 environment. I am interested in finding out what the current state of the packet art is - I see terms like NOS, "wormhole", IP-in-IP encapsulation, and it appears there are gateways to the Internet too (can I use anonymous FTP to Internet sites from my TCP/IP Packet system?). Where can I find out what I have missed over 3 yrs or so in the development of packet? I have two Atari STs, a PK-88, 2m/70cm but no HF - what is available nowadays in terms of state-of-the-art software? (Or even a year or two old? :-) Thanks in advance for any info, 73 de Tony, G4CJO -- Tony Mountifield. | Microware Systems (UK) Ltd. The details are below: Internet address: minnie.cs.adfa.oz.au 131.236.20.90 Packet address: minnie.vk1xwt 44.136.0.31 Callsign: vk1xwt-2 Gateway to: The Canberra network 44.136.0/24 Unfortunately, our link to the airwaves is via a dialin line which has to share a phone line with an office phone. Therefore, I expect the link to be up only on weekends. Finally, minnie's main role is as a Minix ftp site, and is only up between 0700Z to 2300Z, outside of local working hours. This can be changed if necessary :-) Ftp into minnie to pick up our local hosts file. I'll try & leave notices etc. in an ftp file too. Now if any other gateways would like to advertise their information, I'd be very happy. And if anybody can explain how to set up an axip route to their network, I'd be even happier!! Cheers from down under, Warren vk1xwt. ---- From: wkt@csadfa.cs.adfa.oz.au (Warren Toomey) Date: Mon, 1 Jul 91 13:49:13 EST Subject: Is there an rfc for IP-IP encapsulation? A friend just asked me if there was such an rfc, but my search thru the rfc index didn't reveal it. Would anybody with rfc details, or other details on the encapsulation please mail me. Thanks all, Warren vk1xwt ---- From: crompton@NADC.NADC.NAVY.MIL (D. Crompton) Date: Mon, 1 Jul 91 00:30:00 EDT Subject: BC+2.0 compile I am succesful in compiling the PA0GRI NOS under BC+ 2.0 up to the final link for NOS.EXE. At that point I get the linker error: fixup overflow at _TEXT:0096, target= __MKNAME in module FCLOSE The only thing I had to change was an external declaration for 'Version2' in main - which was moved to global.h under the extern for 'Version'. Also telling makefile to call BCC instead of TCC and use *.c for source code. Doug ----
