I had always been told that the limit on connect speed is my "slow phone
lines." but I was able to routinely connect over the holidays at 44K in
Dover DE over holidays and at 128,000k (!) in Williamstown MA (from a 100
year old home) over the last week.

I can't believe it is the equipment in my area, which was developed in the
late 60's and 70s (decades later than either of the two areas mentioned),
unless I am missing something.

Does anyone in the Triangle area ever get a fast connection to any ISP?

What is frustrating is that the slow connections (and inability to ever get
a Duke connection) is seriously impacting my work. I can't get ADSL (not in
my area) or cable modem.
