Who appointed you lord high ruler of DUKE.GENERAL (what is crl.com
anyway)?  This is a  newsgroup devoted to items of general interest to
the Duke community.  Since the original poster is a visiting professor at Duke,
this post certainly qualifies.

Actually, a tough hardened individualist like yourself ought to respect
panhandlers.  They're not asking anything of the state, are they?  Or
society?  Just doing their job, trying to convince individuals to part with
a few dollars.  You sound like the type who doesn't just walk by, but
adds a well placed kick in the balls as well.

Do not judge lest ye be judged?  You have already told us that an
appeal for individual donations qualified someone as a communist criminal,
slacker, and now beggar.  You abandoned the moral high ground already.
