Summer Job - Updating IT literacy documents

EUCS Student Support Team produces a range of basic introductory
documents for use by students in the central computing labs. Each
summer these manuals are updated to reflect changes in the labs and for
new versions of software packages. It is also anticipated that some new
manuals will be produced.

The work will involve proofreading and updating documents on Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mozilla/Internet Explorer and other packages
for use with Windows XP and Macintosh OSX. This will involve checking
for differences in new versions of software, and replacing current text
and illustrations as appropriate.

You will be expected to carry out the work according to current EUCS
documentation standards including the use of established style sheets
and layout features in Word. Some work will also involve preparation of
the same documents for publication on the World Wide Web.

The successful applicant will be able to write English to a high
standard; have some proofreading, editing or publishing experience; and
have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Mozilla and
the SMS Mail Service. Experience with Macintosh OSX and other Central
Computing Lab packages would be an advantage. Please detail, on your
application, your experience of the above and also any other relevant
skills.

It is anticipated that work would take about 6 weeks to complete,
starting on or about 14th June. The successful applicants for the two
posts will be paid at the normal University rates for summer students
were 196.88 Pounds per week in 2003. A pay award is pending and would
be expected to add slightly to this.
