Summer Job - Updating IT literacy documents EUCS Student Support Team produces a range of basic introductory documents for use by students in the central computing labs. Each summer these manuals are updated to reflect changes in the labs and in new versions of software packages. It is also anticipated that some new manuals will be produced. The work will involve checking and updating documents on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Mozilla/Internet Explorer for use with Windows NT and the Macintosh. This will involve checking for differences in new versions of software, replacing current text and illustrations as appropriate. You will be expected to carry out the work according to current EUCS documentation standards including the use of established style sheets and layout features in Word. Text and draft of new documents will be produced in Microsoft Word with final documents being published in InDesign for the Macintosh. Some of the work will also involve preparation of documents for publication on the World Wide Web. Substantial experience of Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of the Student Mail System and Mozilla/Internet Explorer under Windows are essential, along with experience of desktop publishing. Experience of the Macintosh, Windows NT, DTP and Web publishing would be an advantage. It is anticipated that work would take about 6 weeks to complete, starting on or about 16th June. The successful applicants for the two posts will be paid at the normal University rates for summer work (196.88 per week).
