Researchers: Robin Lickley (Linguistics/HCRC) Martin Corley (Psychology) Rob Hartsuiker (Psychology) Mel Russell (Ling/Psychology) We have a small grant to study the perception of disfluent speech by people who stammer. First, we need a small number of stammerers to take part in recordings. The recordings involve describing a route through a map to another person, who draws the route onto their own version of the map. Each recording session should take around an hour to complete. Second, we need people who stammer to take part in a perception experiment, which should also take around an hour to complete. We have funds to pay expenses to all participants. Please get in touch with Robin Lickley at disfl@ling.ed.ac.uk, if you are willing to help or are able to help us find more subjects, or if you would like more details of the project. We gratefully acknowledge the help of the Edinburgh Stammering Support Group, whose web pages can be found at: http://www.edinburgh-stammering.org.uk/ Some members of this group can already attest to the painlessness of both parts of the study! With Thanks Robin Lickley. Linguistics/HCRC, University of Edinburgh.
