Yo lo hago as�
String nombreFichero =
System.getProperty("java.home")+"\\bin\\rmiregistry.exe";
//Tendr�as que controlar tb lo de linux tambi�n con lo de las properties del
System
java.lang.Runtime.getRuntime().exec(nombreFichero);
La ejecuci�n de esto te devuelve un objeto de tipo Process que lo puedes parar
cuando quieras
