Estoy haciendo un script en shell pero tengo problemas con una variable.

var1 = echo $linea|cut -f9 d" "

donde linea lo cargo de un bluce, pero la variable var1 no me lo carga.

Lo curioso es que un poco mas arriba tengo vart = echo $linea|cut -c1 y aqui
si que me carga la variable.
Yo creo que el  problema puede estar en las ""  del cut �?
