$ perl

Hmm... ¿no te habrás equivocado al escribir? ;)
$ perl
my $max = 6;
for ($a=0; $a<$max; $a++, print "\t$a") {}
__END__
1 2 3 4 5 6$ _
En cualquier caso no necesitas el bloque vacío:
$ perl
my $max = 6;
print "\t$_" for 0..$max-1;
__END__
0 1 2 3 4 5$ _
