Como las respuestas a este tema no me han ayudado mucho -¡MUCHAS
GRACIAS DE TODOS MODOS!- (y eso que una sintaxis  "case ..." parecida a
la del bash, ya la usaba hace 10 años en nacros del WordPerfect), he
probado otras opciones, y me respondo a mí mismo:

       dialog --yesno "prueba" 0 0 && echo SI || echo NO  

Será una chapuza, pero funciona.

P.D.: un ejemplo vale más que mil "man-uales" ;-)
