Para c�lculor matriciales, quiz�s te sirva Lapack
(http://www.netlib.org/lapack/). 
Yo no lo he usado, pero tiene buena pinta y creo que su licencia es
libre (no s� si GPL). Para la versi�n C++, puedes mirar en
http://www.netlib.org/lapack++ o
http://math.nist.gov/lapack++/
