Why so few PCI modems on the market?

Does anyone know why PCI bus modems are still so rare? I don't think 3com/USRobotics make one, do they? Why don't they? An ISA bus modem slows down a fast system, the same way an ISA sound card is said to, doesn't it? So why aren't Motorola, 3com, etc. making them? Are they difficult to configue, expensive to make?fido7.modem Of the brands that are out there, can anyone recommend a PCI modem with voice/fax? Please send a copy of any comment to rbsnider@rdc.ab.ca Thanks!

I have never heard of that before! To my knowledge installing a ISA card has no effect on the speed of a system. There is no need to build PCI modem cards, as the data throughput of a modem is very very minimal. Modems don't require the speed improvements offered by PCI.
