かな入力がしたい!

 最近 Red hat Linax 7.3 を自宅のパソコンにいれたWindowsユーザーです。

 Linaxの扱い方がよく分からないので、とりあえずワープロとして使おうとしたら、日本語の入力がうまくいかないーーー。ローマ字入力モードだったようです。自分はかなキーボードのブラインドタッチが出来るので、かな入力モードへの切り替え方法を探してみました。大学のティーチングアシスタントにも尋ねました。
 未だに、文書作成はWindows側で行っており、Linaxを使う機会がありません。Linax上でかなキーボード入力を行う方法を|だれかおしえてください。|
