Hi,
I have recently installed xemacs 21.5.3 under Mac OS X.1, Darwin 1.4.
Everything works fine, except I get errors when I try to install EFS.
This is what it gives me:
[cr651188-a:~/Download/efs-1.16] fowlert% make
BDIR= CWD=`pwd` DIREDDIR= VMDIR= CUSTOMDIR=\
xemacs -batch -no-site-file -l `pwd`/fixup -f batch-byte-compile
`pwd`/efs-netrc.el
Compiling /Users/fowlert/Download/efs-1.16/efs-netrc.el...
While compiling toplevel forms in file
/Users/fowlert/Download/efs-1.16/efs-netrc.el:
!! error (("efs does not work with emacs version 21.5 (beta3)
\"asparagus\" XEmacs Lucid"))
>>Error occurred processing
/Users/fowlert/Download/efs-1.16/efs-netrc.el:
efs does not work with emacs version 21.5 (beta3) "asparagus" XEmacs
Lucid
Done
make: *** [efs-netrc.elc] Error 1
In trying to solve the problem, I went to the EFS home page linked from
xemacs.org, and found that the files were new as of March 1998. Any
insight on this problem would be appreciated. Is it my new version? Is
it Lucid? Should I be using a newer version of EFS?
AFAIK, I need to use 21.5.x because any earlier release does not
support Mac OS X.
If anyone knows of any other file transfer protocols for XEmacs, I
would be interested.
Thanks,
Tim Fowler

It seems that there is not such a problem in the recent versions
of EFS XEmacs package. I do not know where do you get it from.
Try to use the following one if you do not have the ready-
compiled EFS XEmacs package:
ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/packages/efs-1.26-pkg.tar.gz
Good luck to you,

There is no such a newsgroup `comp.xemacs.xemacs'!
I will supersede the last article. Sorry.
