  In Kyoto there is Matsubaya Ryokan (075-351-3727), a few blocks from Kyoto
station, and others in that area. This was very nice a couple of years back.
This is close to Higashi Honganji temple. In Tokyo there is Suigetsu hotel
near Sinobazu station, near Ueno zoo. Phone 822-4611, or 828- 3l81. This is
more expensive than Kyoto. The Japanese Inn Group puts out a small brochure
available from tourist agencies.Hope this helps some.
