	Maybe the exponent -1 is being evaluated mod 12. There are a lot of
	problems like that with modular stuff, e.g. if you have a 5x5 matrix
	and you are working mod 3, you will have trouble referencing the
	(3,4) element correctly.

	When I have to invert a matrix in positive characteristic, I first
	turn modular mode off, then invert the matrix, then return to
	modular.

I think powers are one of the few things that are not affected by on
modular.  Having tried tracing multm and matinverse, I think that the
matrix is being inverted and not multiplied, so it appears that the
problem is that the inversion routine assumes that it is working in
characteristic 0, and does not work correctly if it is not.
Otherwise, I agree with you.
