Over the past month or so, upgrades have been made to various files and packages in the network library. In particular, the NUMERIC and TAYLOR packages have recently been improved. The easiest way to see what has been changed is to obtain the whole index (by sending the message "send complete index" to any of the network library servers) and check the dates on any relevant files. Two new packages have also been added. From Hans-Gert Graebe at Leipzig University comes CALI. This package contains algorithms for computations in commutative algebra closely related to the Groebner algorithm for ideals and modules. It also contains facilities for local computations, using a modern implementation of Mora's standard basis algorithm. This package is in the groebner sub-library. From Carsten and Franziska Schoebel, also at Leipzig University, comes LIE. This is a package of functions for the classification of real n-dimensional Lie algebras. It has been added to the physics sub-library. Tony Hearn
