We the organizers would like to bring to your attention a unique event
to be held in Beijing in September, 1993. This is the second International
Conference on Computational Physics (ICCP). The first ICCP was held under
rather difficult conditions in June of 1988. By sheer perseverance
and dedication from all, the meeting met its goal of invigorating the
computational landscape of China. With talks on supercomputing, visualization
and networking, many Chinese scientists caught a glimspe of the modern
world of computational physics. The organizers were also proud of the
special event in which 300 of the bright high school students were able
to listen to and speak openly and frankly about science, mathematics
and computation techniques and current hardwares and softwares with all
the visiting scientists. We are certain a deep and lasting impression was
made on them.
Five years will have passed when ICCO-II is held. In these five
years, the world of high speed computing continues to make breathtaking
changes and great strides have been made in computing literacy among
Chinese scientists. The latter is especially evident among the younger
generation. In addition, Chinese scientific institutions are at the
verge of networking with the entire world, and electronic communications
is just around the corner. It is with such excitment in the "air" that
the organizers felt that ICCP-II is appropriate. We welcome scientists
>from all corners of the World to come to this event, to share your
wisdom with colleagues and also learn from them. We hope to see you
in Beijing in September of 1993!
