I am sorry for posting this in English, but ...
I was wondering if somebody has any first-hand experience
with either the Sony PTC300 or the Sharp PV-F1 palmtop
organizers.
In particular, I am wondering about the quality of the OCR
software. I tried the Sony for a while in a store, and
noticed, that I had to be extremely careful when entering
Romaji characters. For example, I could only enter a "T" by
being very precise, otherwise I always would get "½½". Are
either of these palmtops trainable to one's own handwriting?
Also, I was wondering, is it possible to find the HP95 LX
palmtop here in Japan?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have PTC300, but I have PTC550, and many of my friends have PTC300.

How do you write "T" ? This way?

Palmtops checks the writing direction, etc. to recognize complex Kanji
charcters. If I don't use "standard" writing direction, palmtop
incorrectly recognize the character I write.
But .. I remember (I'm not using PTC550 currently) that these palmtop
have small amount of memory to learn special writing direction. So you
can tell palmtop how you write the "T".

I think it is possible to buy HP95LX in Akihabara.

PS. If you have more questions, ask Robert Woodhead (trebor@foretune.co.jp)
who have PTC500/300.
