Hello, My name is Tod Hudson. I recently posted within the fl.forsale group. The post was with regard to a car that I am selling for my mother. Literally! She needs to recover the equity in the car in a reasonably quick fashion for personal reasons. I attempted to do this by posting on several forsale groups across the country in an effort to help her. I have recently been notified that my post was removed by some individual who felt that my post was not becoming to the fl.forsale group:"Reason: ECRP & FL.FORSALE is for posts originating inside FLA fl.forsale is for LOCAL, non-commercial (As are all fl.groups) items for sale. fl.jobs is for REGIONAL JOB OFFERINGS not MMF, MLM\'s or jobs in other regions. ECP, EMP and ECRP Violations are Enforced." I have obviously misunderstood the intent of such groups. Do they not exist to help individuals to disseminate information about items that they wish to sell? It was my understanding that these newsgroups were established with such intent, to help people sell and buy. I am not selling commercially, thought the reason for the removal clearly states that my undertakings were commercial in nature. I am not sure, but, to argue definitions, any sale is by its very nature mercantile. This, perhaps, was the source of confusion about my post. This confusion does not excuse the individual involved in removing my post. In addition, I was infromed in the same missive that my post was additionally unpalatable due to its exoctic nature. Posting from outside of the state was not deemed local, and, therefore, my post was could not be permitted to exist on a fl newsgroup. Once again, I understand the criteria, thought I do not agree with it, why the individual removed my post. This once again doees not excuse this behavior. To be blunt, this was rude, and the legallity of expunging another's posts is also questionable. I am not aware of any separatist movements within Florida. I have been impressed with the wide acceptance of the net as a means to be more connective and inclusive of all. I think that such closed, aggressive behavior is wrong and abusive. I think that the idea to remove "SPAM" articles from newsgroups may be worth scrutiny, but who can determine the good of any of the posts. Many individuals may benefit from the abitlity to compare pricing information from multitudes of vendors. Others can gain from finding an item of interest in a ditsant location. This is perhaps the most attractive and redeeming fature of the web; the ability to cross barriers of distance to bring information to any who are in need or search of it. This by its very nature includes everyone by being an OPEN forum for propagation of ideas and news. In my opinion, this opportunity to is shared by too few individuals already without further curtailing by another who wishes to keep their "preserve" sacrosanct for all who would impinge on it form outside, "non-local" areas. To finish this thought, there does not currently exist an individual who should be allowed to impudently and arbitrarily decide who has the right to REMOVE posts despite their establishment of the group. I will attempt to post again to this news group once again, though I still have no real parameters for judging my posts worth. I have the desire and need to sell the car. The idea that someone in Florida might be interested is quite obvious. The guidelines for posting are vague and provincial though they do exist at<http://www.unicom.com/regional/>. That a Floridian would be bothered by an inconvenience "for the average Florida resident to perform all parts of the transaction within our region" is absurd. The average Floridian is quite capable of deciding who and what they would would like to buy and from WHERE. I, once again, am not dealing in the following: "Commercial advertising, Postings by DEALERS selling or soliciting equipment, Real estate postings by REALTORS, and Postings by amateurs REGULARLY dealing in used items principally or incidentally for purposes of financial gain." I agree with this fully "fl.forsale is a forum where Floridians sell, trade or request items in connection with their individual needs." For this reason, I am willing to allow and hope that a Floridian may be unterested in the car when I repost. I further submit that this can not be judged as "wrong" by the exact criteria of the preceeding two sentences. To all and sundry who read this post, I apologize for my long windedness. I truly wish that any who feel similarly or disimilarly send me email to further discuss this. I would hope that this activity stop. Not to be vulgar, but, DAMN IT, why should my post not be allowed to exist because I am from another state? Thank you. Sincerely, Robert Tod Hudson
