Conrad Sabatier (conrads@new-orleans.neosoft.com) wrote: : Phelps and his merry little band of angels recently demonstrated at a reading : by poet Maya Angelou, who was so shaken by the incident she was unable to : continue her performance. : Most readers will recall Ms. Angelou's reading at President Clinton's : inauguration of a poem she had written specifically for the occasion. : One of Phelps' sons was quoted as saying Angelou had been targeted because of : her association with Clinton and the "liberal left-wing fringe". PLEASE bear in mind that there are many of us (probably most Americans) who are equally disgusted by both the lies and demagoguery of the Clintons and the hatred and bigotry of the Phelpses of this world. To be against one does not in any way suggest that you support the other.
