Eco-weenies never let facts get in the way of a good rant or cause. As has
been said many times and it couldn't be more true: If "environmentalists"
were REALLY concerned with "global warming", they would be clamoring for
nuclear power.

Except, of course, Downey gets the same benefit we all get from increased
power generation capacity: having the lights stay on.

Here we go again with the same nonsense we got from that mis-informed fellow
from Stanford: they may not SELL the power to Downey, but Downey, due to its
proximity will get first-use-availability of the power.

If I had a nickel for every occurrence of the utterance of this old saw, I
would have my new backup generator paid for. "Just build it somewhere else.
We're too [important | scenic | environmentally-conscious | afraid |
aesthetically-minded | influential] to have a plant built here."

I love hearing Coyote Valley residents whining about the proposed MEC in
south San Jose. "This is such a beautiful area and it would be a crime to
have it spoiled by a power plant."

Give me break! It isn't the rain forest of Valhalla; it is south San Jose,
for gawd's sake.
