If it was revealed tomorrow that George Walker Bush eats kittens for breakfast every morning, and holds dark satanic rituals in which he personally cut the hearts out of every person executed in Texas to give them to Baal and Quezecatl, that would not, could not, and should not have any effect on the race. The race is *over* -- it's simply determining what happened that matters now. > insofar as bush doesn't have a viable VP Dick Cheney is in fact a viable VP. In any case, the assumption in some conspiracy-theory quarters is that Cheney has always intended to step aside for someone else as VP. > - i guess we can all be thankful that gore got the > plurality...and as you will soon see - the presidency Gore's plurality means nothing. The population of the United States does not vote for the President. The *states* of the United States vote for the President. If Gore wins Florida, then he wins the election (barring a number of possibilities, like the Florida legislature changing election law in an emergency session, which they could yet do, or the Congress refusing to accept state certification from certain states, which they also could do -- a power given to them by an 1878 law, I believe it was.) Personally, I'm hoping this drags out longer -- at this point, I no longer care who the President-elect is; I'm just having fun, and want to see people on both sides invoke the most byzantine and obscure laws and precidents avalable. - Ian -- Marriage, n: The state or condition of a community consisting of a master, a mistress, and two slaves, making, in all, two. -- Ambrose Bierce SSBB Diplomatic Corps; Boston, Massachusetts
